We're making MAX more interactive this year with the launch of MAXme – a QR code-based game created by one of our very own Flash Platform evangelists, Serge Jespers (Graphics by Kristof Saelen). With great prizes at stake, including three Adobe MAX 2012 passes up for grabs, you definitely don't want to miss out!
Download the app, with integrated QR Code Reader, from the Android Market or iTunes App Store and install it. You will be required to login with Twitter or Facebook, so we can track your score. You can then create a personalized avatar.
Starting Sunday, October 2 at MAX, we'll kick off with our first QR code among 100's that will be available in and around the LACC and Nokia Theater -- at keynotes, session rooms, the exhibit floor, and even on our Adobe evangelists – so keep your eyes peeled! Scan those codes to unlock special badges and accumulate as many points as possible to stay on top of the leaderboard.
Follow #MAXme Twitter hashtag and see how you and others are doing in the game.
There is a lot up for grabs. In addition to three grand prizes of Adobe MAX 2012 passes, MAXme's players should be on the hunt for special QR codes that unlock giveaways such as a Creative Suite 5.5, Flash Builder 4.5, MAX Store discounts, one of 500 Adobe MAX mugs, and much more. The key to landing one or more of these prizes is to accumulate as many points and unlock as many badges as possible, so scan every QR code in sight.
There are also a number of one-off giveaways from our various product teams and MAX sponsors, so be sure to stay tuned to the #AdobeMAX Twitter stream for details.
The game officially ends Tuesday night (October 4) following the MAX Bash. Winners for the MAX Store discounts and MAX 2012 passes will be announced Wednesday, October 5 at the Community Pavilion.
The MAXme app for iOS is in the Apple Store queue for approval. Once it’s available, @AdobeEvents and @AdobeMAX will tweet it.
You can pick your MAXme mugs in the Community Lounge at the following hours (while supplies last):
Monday: 11:30 am - 8 pm
Tuesday: 11:30 am - 5 pm
Wednesday: 10 am - 3 pm
Yes, you need to log in to one of these main social channels in order for us to track your points. Additionally, you will be able to share your game progress with your social networks.
You scan QR codes. Some QR codes are badges and all are worth points. You need to scan a certain amount of badges to be eligible for some prizes. On Tuesday at midnight PT, the QR Code game is officially over and the Top 3 points-getters will win a free pass to MAX 2012. The next 3 will win Adobe clothing (of the winner's choice – to be handled via email after MAX) and the next 3 will win $50 store credit from the MAX store (to be used at MAX 2011). In the event of ties, players with the same points will be randomly picked for prizes. There will also be various QR codes worth one-off prizes.
After you scan a QR Code, your screen will have a pop-up message that you can tweet or share on Facebook, and there may also be a secondary message for just you that explains something about the game or the code. Your scanned codes will give you points and some QR codes will also be badges. Once you scan a QR code, you will not be able to scan the same QR code again.
Only the prizes listed above. There may be other prize give-aways from sponsors or product teams that aren't in conjunction with the MAXme game.
That depends on how many people play. The top points leaders will be the final winners but you can win by scanning only one code, if you are lucky. Note that some QR codes will be worth more than others. For example, platinum sponsors with QR codes are likely candidates for sought-after QR codes.
First, turn off and then turn back on your device. If the app is still not working, please tweet the issue using #MAXhelp hashtag, and we'll see if we can help out. Note that this is ver. 1 of the game so thanks for your patience.
Highlight a feature on the right scrollbar (such as moustache, hair, glasses…) and then drag your finger over that area on your avatar and scroll through the various options. You can also touch randomize to get a whole new look.
